Our hedgewitch has come up with a formulation to help give your horse a nuisance free summer. No more swishing tails and troubled horses. The way icaridin works really is magic. Rather than being a repellent, icaridin (picaridin) works by making it difficult for insects to locate the horse and as a result they don’t land on the horse’s coat.

We don’t claim that icaridin is a natural ingredient, it isn’t. It contains a substance modelled on piperidine which occurs naturally in black pepper, giving it its spicy taste. We’ve chosen icaridin because it works better than anything else we’ve tried on our horses and certainly better than essential oils, which can be effective but are very short lived. Contains 20% icaridin.

Icaridin is recommended by the World Health Organization.

Exactly what’s inside

Aqua, hydroxyethyl isobutyl piperidine carboxylate, aloe vera gel.

How to use

Shake well before use.

Spray on to your horse, ensuring good coverage. Sponge on around sensitive areas, such as eyes and muzzle. Re-apply as necessary, especially after washing your horse off after exercise.

Precautions

Avoid spraying directly into eyes. However icaridin is not neurotoxic, has low toxicity, is non-irritating and non-sensitizing to skin.
